What do I need to play?
You will want to have a computer or other device with access to the internet handy. Other items that may come in handy: headphones, pens, pencils, highlighters, scrap paper, scissors, and tape.
How do I access the online portions?
You should be logged in to your Third Gate Games account under the username used to register for the game to access the game start page. Only the team captain will be able to access the game pages. Do not share your log in information with other players. You will need to share the quest information with remote teammates in other ways.
When can I open my box?
Please do not go through the items in the box before the event starts. You won’t be able to complete the quests and it will spoil the surprises. If you are playing On Your Own Time, you can open your box as soon as you receive your box and the game start email.
How long do I have to finish the game?
Currently we do not take down past game pages, so you have as long as you would like to finish. If you are in the Competitive division, your net solve time begins when you click on the start button on the game page. You are competing against the clock, so if you have something that delays your start, don't stress. You do not have to complete all quests in one sitting.
How do I get help if I need it?
For the Competitive division, live hints are available online from the Third Gate Games team via a chat function from 9 a.m PT to 6 p.m. PT on game day. Each hint your team receives is a penalty of 15 minutes. Skipping a quest entirely will remove your team from competitive play. You will not be eligible for the final leader board. On Your Time division teams will have several built in hints on each game page to assist with solving.
